Sweet Walks & Swiss Local Wonders in Zürich
Day 3 in Switzerland was all about charm, chocolate, and a
touch of lakeside magic. We started our morning in the heart of Zürich’s Old
Town - a maze of cobbled lanes, colourful facades, and timeless
architecture. Every corner had a story to tell, from tiny artisan shops to
lively cafés spilling out onto the streets.
The Ultimate Chocolate Experience: Lindt Home of Chocolate
No trip to Zürich is complete without diving headfirst into
the world of Swiss chocolate and the famous Lindt’s Chocolate Tour (the
perfect gateway). As you step inside, you will be welcomed by the iconic
chocolate fountain, flowing like a dream (and yes, you can smell it from a
distance!). The immersive museum shared Lindt's history, the art of chocolate
making, and, best of all unlimited tastings. Milk, dark, hazelnut,
filled, crunchy - every flavor felt like a sweet love letter from Switzerland.
Serenity by the Zürichsee
Post-chocolate coma, we made our way to the serene Zürich
Lake (Zürichsee). The sun was mellow, the air crisp, and the view —
picture-perfect. Locals and travelers relaxed along the promenade, feeding
swans or simply soaking in the calm. We walked for hours, just talking,
people-watching, and breathing in the peaceful pace of the city.
Trams, Groceries & Swiss Everyday Life
To explore like a true local, we hopped on Zürich’s famous tram
network — smooth, scenic, and incredibly efficient. It gave us a peek into
the city’s daily rhythm, from officegoers to students and cozy family outings.
Later, we dropped by Coop and Migros, the two
biggest grocery chains in Switzerland. For a travel nerd like me, exploring
foreign supermarkets is a tiny adventure in itself! From Swiss cheeses to fresh
breads, patisserie and local chocolates we hadn’t seen anywhere else, we picked
up a few treats for our evening snack haul.
By the end of the day, Zürich had not only fed our sweet
tooth but also touched our hearts. Day 3 was a perfect blend of flavor,
culture, and connection. Onward to more Swiss magic!
💡 Travel Tip:
The Lindt Home of Chocolate is just a 20-minute train ride
from Zürich HB. Book your tickets in advance — especially for weekends. Also,
pick up a Zürich Travel Card if you plan on using trams and public
transport often (based on your travel duration). It is totally worth it and most
of the museums, attractions are also included with it!
